The Kingsville Chapter of the GYPSY Motorcycle Club
held it’s second annual Armadillo run on April 19, 2008. The run is on
memory of JIIIZ and proceeds benefit the local Relay for Life. Over 100 registrants
participated on a 74 mile ride that took them from Gem’s Pancake house in Kingsville, where several
of the participants ate breakfast, to Doc’s in Bishop, a small sports bar that opened up two years ago. Then they proceeded to Bea’s place in Alice Texas. Beas
is a great little honky Tonk that really loves bikers. From Bea’s place
the participants rode back to local establishments in Kingsville. They first
visited Double A’s, then stop at the Corner Depot, the original Kingsville Chapter (1980’s) hangout, and then
finally ended up at “The Office” where everyone was entertained by Cadillac Overdrive. Some fine home cooking was provided, including Pan de campo (Camp Bread provided by Lionel Gonzales).
The GYPSY Motorcycle Club Chapters represented included: Houston, Cuero, Goliad, Corpus Christi, La Feria, Laredo and Hebbronville.
International Officers were also in attendance. Other Riding Clubs and
outriders from the area also participated.
The Kingsville Chapter held its first Toy Run on November 17, 2007.
It was a very successful event that brought in members from Calallen and La Feria Chapters. Other participants include local and area riders for a total of 50 bikes. The
local Car Club also joined in the Toy drive along with other vehicle pariciapants. The
Run consisted of a Police escorted Parade through the main streets in Kingsville departing from the local Wal-Mart and ending
up at Port-O-Call (where the PARTY took place). Thanks to all that made the event
happen including all the participants, Wal-Mart, D&C Amusements, Port-O-Call, Local Firestone and Lyrical Bynge (The Band).
